About Amy
I am Amy Guzman, founder of ayni legal and a Fractional General Counsel with more than 20 years of legal experience. I have worked across high-growth technology companies and global law firms, including Baker McKenzie, Salesforce, Lyft, and SOCi, where I served as General Counsel and Privacy Officer.
I have built or established legal functions at seven companies, four in in-house roles and three as Fractional General Counsel. I have also managed privacy and compliance programs across the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. My experience spans commercial negotiations, privacy and AI governance, employment matters, corporate governance, fundraising and diligence, ISO programs, and legal operations.
I give you clear options, explain the tradeoffs, and help you make the call. I do not make legal more complicated than it needs to be.
How I work
Ongoing Fractional General Counsel services
Most of my work is through an ongoing monthly engagement, with a set number of hours reserved for legal guidance and day-to-day support. The work may include commercial contracting, privacy and AI governance, employment matters, legal operations, ISO support, interim GC or Deputy General Counsel coverage, and the unexpected issues that come up as the business grows.
For many clients, 30 to 40 hours per month is enough for me to be genuinely part of the team. The hours can increase during periods of growth, fundraising, or heightened activity and decrease when the business needs less support. We shape the scope around what your company actually needs.
Projects and targeted support
When I have room, I also take on focused projects and ad hoc matters, including contract negotiations and targeted work involving privacy, AI governance, compliance, or legal operations. Because ongoing Fractional General Counsel clients receive reserved capacity, timing for project-based matters depends on availability.
